Muhabura University is Blessed with Diverse, Faith-Motivated Leadership
“We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”
–Franklin D. Roosevelt
Muhabura University has been organized as a Rwanda non-profit corporation and has requested provisional status from the Ministry of Education as an institution of higher education.

Bishop John Rucyahana, Chairman
Bishop John Rucyahana is one of Rwanda’s most effective leaders – an evangelist, spiritual leader and social entrepreneur—building schools, hospitals, businesses, community centers and churches in his native country. He serves on President Kagame’s Presidential Advisory Council and is the author of “The Bishop of Rwanda, Finding Forgiveness Amidst a Pile of Bones”. He speaks several languages, earned his Master of Divinity degree at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA and travels frequently to North America, Europe and Australia as an ambassador for Jesus and Rwanda. Christianity Today magazine described Bishop John as Rwanda’s Christian leader with the biggest network of friends in America.
Dale Dawson, Vice Chairman
Dale Dawson is an investment banker and entrepreneur. During his career he has been Partner and National Director at KPMG, the global accounting firm; executive vice president and head of investment banking at Stephens Inc., one of the country’s largest private merchant banks; and chairman and CEO of TruckPro, the country’s largest independent distributor of commercial truck parts, which he sold to AutoZone.
Dale is co-founder & CEO of Bridge2Rwanda and serves on President Kagame’s Presidential Advisory Council. In Rwanda, Dale helped to found, and now serves on the boards of Urwego Opportunity Bank of Rwanda and Muhabura University. In the US, he serves on the board of Leadership Network/Halftime Group, the Opportunity International President’s Council and the Episcopal Collegiate School Foundation. He and his wife, Judi, are University of Texas graduates and live in Little Rock, AR. Their children, Katherine and Jack, are college students.
Dale has been inspired by the character and determination of the Rwandan people and encouraged by the many friends who have also been called to help. He is awed by what he has seen God accomplish and driven by the opportunity to do more. Dale continues to passionately pursue his calling to “Build a bridge between here and Rwanda and transform lives at both ends”.
Glen Woodruff, CEO & President
Glen Woodruff is an architect, teacher, missionary and experienced leader of a global, faith-based nonprofit ministry. Prior to becoming Muhabura University’s CEO and President in 2008, Glen served for 15 years at Engineering Ministries International (EMI), a nonprofit Christian development organization based in Colorado Springs, CO. From a database of over 6,000 volunteer architects, engineers and other design professionals, EMI mobilizes teams to provide free design services to Christian nonprofit organizations operating in developing countries. Prior to become its CEO eight years ago, Glen moved his family to India to open EMI’s first overseas office. During Glen’s tenure, EMI grew from eight employees in one office to over 85 employees and interns in six offices around the world and completed over 800 projects in 80 developing countries.
Glen earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Arkansas and his Master of Architecture at Washington University in St Louis, MO. Prior to joining EMI, he worked in Arkansas for seven years as a professional architect at Wittenberg, Delony & Davidson and as a visiting professor of design and construction at the University of Arkansas at
Fayetteville. Glen and his wife, Tamra, live in Little Rock, AR with their five sons, Nathan, Aaron, Joshua, Asa and Seth.
Glen first learned about Muhabura University when Bridge2Rwanda contacted him in December 2007 to ask if EMI would design the university’s Musanze campus. After an exploratory trip in March, Glen led an EMI team to Rwanda in June 2008 to design the Muhabura University campus in Musanze.
